Spring Cleaning For Your Mind And Emotions
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWeb) March 8, 2007 -- Spring-cleaning your house is a yearly ritual, but what about clearing out the cobwebs from your mind? What could be a better way to start the spring season than the gift of a clear and rejuvenated mind, free from negative impressions about the past and anxiety about the future? You can learn tools to effectively sweep away stress in the Art of Living Course, a breath-based workshop offered by the non-profit Art of Living Foundation at San Francisco's Fort Mason Center from March 9-13, 2007.
It is now a documented medical fact that chronic stress leads to irreversible physiological changes, resulting in diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, and asthma. "Stress may affect every cell in your body," says Ronald Glaser, Ph.D., a researcher at Ohio State University Medical School.
So what can you do to clear stress from the mind and body? The secret lies in the breath. There is an inbuilt link between our breath and our mind. When we're upset, our breath becomes shallow and quick; when we are calm, our breath is naturally deep and slow. Ancient yogis studied this phenomenon and turned it into a science of de-stressing the mind. The practical application of this ancient science of breath is available in the Art of Living Course.
At the heart of the course is the Sudarshan Kriya®, a powerful breathing technique that purifies and rejuvenates both the mind and body, bringing an immediate sense of overall well-being. It is proven to have beneficial effects on the physiology, nervous system, endocrine system and the immune system. Participants commonly report that they simply "feel great" after practicing this breathing technique.
Andrea W., a Project Manager from San Francisco notes, "This breathing practice easily clears away negativity and stress, which results in a happier, more authentic life. I find that other people see this in me and respond to it."
The Art of Living Course at the Fort Mason Center will be March 9-13 and will be taught by senior international Art of Living teacher Rajshree Patel, who has been teaching around the world for more than fifteen years. Her courses are known to be fun, profound and transformational.
